Preamble
The Deutsch-Nordische Burse Foundation operates a student residence of the same name at Kiellinie 81 in Kiel.
German and international students are admitted, with preference given to people from the Scandinavian-Baltic region.
The foundation supports all efforts to preserve democratic foundations and to strengthen the idea of European unity.
It is committed to peaceful, open-minded and tolerant coexistence among the students. Living, sharing everyday life and working together in the Burse should always be shaped by mutual respect.
This applies to all physical abilities, sexualities, ethnic and religious affiliations, as well as political worldviews within the framework of a democratic value system.
Degrading and racist statements and actions, as well as anti-democratic declarations, are not tolerated. The students in the Burse are called upon by the foundation to conduct discussions and disagreements in a factual and respectful manner, and to meet one another in a spirit of critical openness and tolerance.
However: “Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. For if we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant social order against the attacks of intolerance, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.” (Karl Popper)
Note: The Burse is not a fraternity and distances itself from all extremist ideologies.
